How to Change or Add a Wallet to Your Account

One wallet, one account — that non-custodial rule catches every 8lends investor off guard. Here's what happens to your investments, PoL bonuses and KYC when you migrate.

Your account on 8lends is linked to a wallet address — this is its unique identifier. Changing or adding a new wallet to an existing account is technically impossible through the standard interface — this is a fundamental property of non-custodial Web3 platforms. To migrate between wallets (for example, in case of lost access or compromise) or to transfer investment rights, there are two paths: (1) contacting support via [email protected] with additional KYC verification, or (2) selling an active position through the Secondary Market followed by buying through the new wallet. Each wallet address = a separate account.

The Basic Principle — One Wallet = One Account

In Web3 platforms there is no email login in the traditional sense:

  • Wallet address = account identifier on 8lends
  • Seed phrase = your "password" (controls the address and access)
  • Connecting via MetaMask/Trust Wallet = "logging into your account"
  • All investments, bonuses, and KYC status are linked to the address

This is the non-custodial model: 8lends does not control your funds and cannot "switch" an account between wallets the way a bank can transfer a profile to a new account number.

Why You Can't Just "Change the Wallet"

Unlike Web2 services (where you can change your email or password), a Web3 platform works differently:

  • Smart contracts record investments under a specific address
  • PoL bonuses are linked to the address
  • Vesting unlocks go to a specific address
  • Reputation history (number of investments, KYC limits) is on a specific address

Transferring all of this to a new address is only possible through additional operations, not through a switch in the interface.

When You Might Need to Change Your Wallet

Compromised Wallet

  • Suspicion that your seed phrase reached scammers
  • You connected your wallet to a phishing site
  • Loss or theft of a device with the seed phrase without a backup
  • Someone learned your private key

Loss of Access

  • You forgot your seed phrase or lost its backup copy
  • The device with MetaMask broke without a backup
  • The wallet stopped being recognized programmatically

Technical Upgrade

  • Moving from a software wallet to hardware (Ledger, Trezor)
  • Consolidating several wallets into one for convenience
  • Moving to a new wallet for better security (multisig)

Change in Life Circumstances

  • Transferring part of your assets to another person (inheritance, divorce, gift)
  • Splitting into personal and corporate wallets
  • Emigration and change of tax residency

Two Migration Paths

Path 1. Through 8lends Support (recommended)

When it's suitable:

  • Complete loss of access to the old wallet
  • Proven compromise (phishing, theft)
  • Internal asset reorganization for a large investor
  • Transfer with inheritance verification

Process:

  1. Urgently write to [email protected] with the subject "Wallet migration request"
  1. Attach to the email:
  • A detailed description of the situation
  • The old wallet address
  • The new wallet address
  • Screenshots of the situation, if applicable
  1. Complete enhanced KYC (if not already done) — to confirm identity
  1. Additional verification — support may request additional documents, a video call, etc.
  1. Sign the migration request with both wallets (if the old one is still accessible) to confirm ownership
  1. Wait for a decision — the process may take from a few days to 2-3 weeks

What gets transferred:

  • Active investments in projects
  • Vesting rights to 8LNDS (PoL, referral bonuses)
  • KYC status and history
  • Initial registration / Investment Bonus history

What does NOT get transferred automatically:

  • The 8LNDS tokens themselves that have already been claimed and sit on the old wallet (these are your assets under your control, not controlled by 8lends)
  • USDC interest payments already sent to the old wallet
  • The full reputation score — there may be nuances

Path 2. Through the Secondary Market (faster, but with a fee)

When it's suitable:

  • The old wallet is still accessible
  • You don't want to go through additional verification
  • You're willing to pay a fee for speed

Process:

  1. From the old wallet: sell the active position through the Secondary Market — a 10% fee is charged to the seller, and you receive USDC in the old wallet
  1. Transfer USDC from the old to the new wallet (one gas transfer)
  1. From the new wallet: buy the position back through the Secondary Market — the buyer pays 0% fee — You can buy the same project or a different one

What gets transferred:

  • The investment itself (via a market operation)
  • The new wallet starts its own history from the moment of purchase

What does NOT get transferred:

  • The old history — on the new wallet you have no old PoL vesting, no old bonuses
  • KYC status — you need to go through it again with the new wallet
  • First Investment Bonus — it's one-time per account; the new wallet won't have it

Financial effect: you lose the 10% SM fee + accelerated closure of vesting (if 8LNDS assets are still in vesting — they remain on the old wallet).

Can You Have Several Wallets on One Account?

Technically — no. Each wallet address = a separate account with its own history.

But in practice an investor can:

  • Use several wallets — each with its own 8lends account
  • Link them through a single KYC — Sumsub can verify one person across several wallets (with additional checks)
  • Redirect payouts — for example, invest from a hot wallet and withdraw interest to a cold one (requires a manual operation after receipt)

⚠️ Creating several accounts to duplicate the First Investment Bonus is abuse. The platform may close linked accounts if detected.

What to Do If Your Wallet Is Compromised — Emergency Plan

Step 1. Urgently

  • Create a new wallet (a new seed phrase on a clean device)
  • Transfer all valuable assets from the old to the new wallet
  • Especially urgent — 8LNDS, USDC, ETH

Step 2. Protect Your 8lends Account

  • Do not connect the compromised wallet to app.8lends.io
  • Revoke approvals on the old one via revoke.cash
  • Contact 8lends via [email protected] to re-link the account

Step 3. Save What Remains

  • Request migration through support (Path 1)
  • Already unlocked 8LNDS on the old wallet — try to transfer them before the scammer pulls them out
  • Active investments — usually held in the 8lends smart contract; a scammer with access to the old wallet cannot transfer them without a signature (but may be able to claim future payouts)

Step 4. Analyze the Situation

  • Understand how the compromise happened (phishing, malware, physical access)
  • Take measures for the future (hardware wallet, clean device)
  • Report to the real Daniel/Ceviz on Telegram about the phishing campaign, if there was one

Special Case — Loss of Seed Phrase Without a Backup

This is the most difficult case:

  • Technically, restoring access to a wallet without the seed phrase is impossible
  • Assets on the wallet (8LNDS, USDC) are lost forever
  • Active investments in 8lends projects — can be transferred through Path 1 (support), but only with sufficient identity proof via KYC

What to Do

  1. Contact [email protected] with the subject "Lost wallet access — recovery request"
  1. Complete enhanced KYC — video call, documents, identity confirmation
  1. Sign a declaration of loss of access (a legally binding document)
  1. Wait for a decision — this is a lengthy process

8lends can transfer the rights to active investments and vesting to a new address, but cannot recover already-claimed tokens on the lost wallet (they are physically at the old address).

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you change your wallet through the app.8lends.io interface? No. The wallet address = the account identifier. You can change it only through migration (support) or the Secondary Market (a new account). This is a fundamental property of all serious Web3 platforms.

How long does migration through support take? From a few days to 2-3 weeks, depending on: (1) the complexity of the situation, (2) the amount of additional KYC, (3) the current support workload. Urgent cases (compromise) are processed with priority.

Is it free? Migration through support is free (Path 1). Migration through the Secondary Market costs a 10% fee from the seller + gas (Path 2). 8lends does not charge any additional fees.

What if I've already invested from two different wallets? Technically you have two separate accounts on 8lends. If you want to combine them — contact support with a consolidation request (one of the two wallets is transferred to the other). Difficulty: both accounts must be verified (KYC).

Will my First Investment Bonus be preserved during migration through support? Yes, through Path 1 (support) — it is transferred. Through Path 2 (Secondary Market) — no, the new wallet has no history, and the First Investment Bonus applies only to the first investment on an account.

What if the new wallet was already used for another account on 8lends? Then migration through Path 1 is complicated — you can't merge two histories into one. Support will discuss options individually, but it is often recommended to use a completely clean wallet for migration.

What happens to my active investments during migration? Active investments remain in the smart contract — they don't depend on who is connected to them. Interest payments and the final return of principal will go to the address specified in the smart contract (the old wallet). After migration — they can be transferred to the new address through an 8lends technical procedure.

What if my old wallet is compromised and a scammer can withdraw vested 8LNDS? This is a real risk. That's why, in case of compromise, urgently: (1) contact support, (2) ask to suspend claiming on the old address, (3) move future payouts to the new one. But already-unlocked tokens without an active claim — can be stolen by a scammer at any moment.

Can you use MetaMask and Trust Wallet with one address? Yes, if you import the same seed phrase into both wallets — it's the same address displayed through two different interfaces. It's not two wallets, but one wallet in two apps.

What if I want to split assets — small operations on one wallet, large ones on another? This is standard security practice. You create two different wallets (two different seed phrases):

  • Hot wallet — for active operations, small amounts
  • Cold wallet — for large savings, hardware-based

Each is a separate account on 8lends, each requiring its own KYC.

Can you transfer KYC status between your own wallets? Through support — yes, it may be possible. Sumsub supports identifying that several wallets belong to one physical person. Contact [email protected] with a request to link wallets to the same identity.

What if I want to gift investments to a loved one? Through support and with a legally executed deed of gift, it may be possible to transfer the investments to the recipient's address. This requires additional KYC of the recipient. An alternative — sell through the Secondary Market, give the USDC to the recipient, and they buy with a new wallet (but the 10% SM fee + special bonuses are lost).

Is there two-factor authentication (2FA) on 8lends? In Web3 platforms, traditional 2FA via SMS/Google Authenticator is not used — its role is performed by the wallet itself: every transaction requires a signature through MetaMask/Trust Wallet. The signature = the "second factor." Additional protection — hardware wallets (Ledger, Trezor), which require physical confirmation on the device.

Risk disclosure: wallet migration on 8lends is a serious operation requiring verification of ownership and identity. 8lends cannot restore access to wallets with lost seed phrases — these assets are technically impossible to recover. Transferring an account through support requires enhanced KYC and may take up to several weeks. Using the Secondary Market to change wallets incurs a 10% fee. Creating duplicate accounts to obtain repeated bonuses is a violation of the terms, leading to the closure of linked accounts. 8lends is a platform operated by Alpha Systems LLC, registered as a VASP under the supervision of the FSA of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Maclear AG (Switzerland), a member of PolyReg SRO under the supervision of FINMA, acts as the Collateral Agent. Regulatory framework as of May 2026.
